Amazon FBA Fees in 2026: The Complete Breakdown
Amazon updated its FBA fee structure on January 15, 2026, and the changes are bigger than a typical annual adjustment: a new size tier, price-banded fulfillment fees, and a fuel surcharge that arrived in April. Here is everything you pay in 2026, and how to estimate it before you launch.
The two fees every FBA sale pays
The referral fee is Amazon's commission: 15% of the selling price for most categories, 8% for a handful including consumer electronics and personal computers, with a $0.30 minimum. The FBA fulfillment fee is a fixed per-unit charge for pick, pack, and delivery, determined by your product's size tier and shipping weight.
What changed in 2026
- New Small Bulky tier — products with a longest side of 18–37 inches or weight of 20–50 lb moved out of Large Bulky, cutting fees 21–23% for many home and outdoor products.
- Three price bands — items under $10 get reduced Low-Price FBA rates (about $0.86 less on average), $10–50 pays standard rates, and items over $50 pay a premium of roughly $0.26–0.51.
- 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge — applied to all fulfillment fees from April 17, 2026.
- Storage — standard-size storage runs $0.78 per cubic foot January–September and jumps to about $2.40 in the October–December peak.
A worked example
A $29.99 kitchen gadget, 12×8×0.7 inches, 5.6 oz: it classifies as Small standard, so the fulfillment fee is $3.45, plus the fuel surcharge = $3.57. Referral at 15% = $4.50. Storage on 0.04 cubic feet ≈ $0.03/month. Total Amazon fees: about $8.10 — 27% of the price — before your product cost, freight, or advertising.
That is why sellers who estimate fees by "roughly a third" get surprised in both directions: a low-price band product pays less than they feared, while a dimensional-weight-heavy product pays far more. Run your exact numbers instead.
